36 weeks and Counting

Well, the verdict of my MD appt today was 1 more week of bedrest and then no holds bar, or however you spell that! The plan as of today is to come off the medication and move around as much as I want after next Friday when I'm 37 weeks so Abbie Rose will be considered term whenever she decides to enter this world. I had a feeling deep down this would be my MD's preference, which is different from what the 2 MDs told me that saw me when Abbie took us to the hospital for a short stay 2 weeks ago when she decided to shake things up a bit. They had said bedrest til I was 36 weeks instead of 37. Abbie and I are growing together and settled in for 7 more days of rest and relaxation, bonding with the couch. I'll keep you posted and please be praying for us and Abbie's safe arrival!

Mini Shower for Abbie Rose

Sweet watermelon outfits for Abbie Rose

Pam, me, and Shannon

A shower for Abbie Rose had been planned at work today for a month or so, but we were unable to make it for obvious reasons! So.....my boss, Pam, and my student, Shannon brought the shower to me! It snowed here in Memphis today so others weren't able to come because kids were out of school, so it was a mini shower. They came with an abundance of gifts from my co-workers that was overwhelming and such a blessing! They also brought yummy pineapple and some frozen food for after Abbie comes, so thoughtful. This was the first shower Mike got to come to also, instead of just coming at the end to help pack the car with gifts received. He wrote down who each gift was from and did a great job, with a little guidance from us girls. We were overwhelmed with people's generosity and Abbie and I felt very special and loved. It was a great time and such a treat to have company to catch up and celebrate Abbie Rose with.

Goodbye Old Saturn

The outing for the day was driving to follow Mike as he drove my old car to meet a lady ready with cash in hand to buy it! We put it on craigslist a few weeks ago and had several prospects and finally a buyer tonite! It had tons of miles on it as my mom used it do drive 1000+ miles/week to do home health nursing in ATL for several years, but it's been a good, reliable one for sure. I sound like a commercial, don't I? Anyways, we are very thankful that she will get good use out of it, as we recently bought a honda pilot as our new family car with Abbie Rose on the way. I'm back at home now, on the couch where I've been ordered to be, all snuggled in for the night and about to watch Mike cook up some spaghetti for dinner. Abbie is hungry and her Daddy's a good cook!
P.S. - I had a picture of the car in this post originally, but deleted it in my ignorance of figuring out how to put pictures in the next day's post! I'm learning, bear with me. I'll just blame it on pregnancy brain!

Weekend Excitement

We had a great, busy weekend of preparing for Abbie Rose's arrival! My parents took a road trip to see us and help us out tremendously instead of us going to Atlanta for the shower for Abbie that had been planned, but is now postponed til after she arrives due to my bedrest. We hit the ground running Saturday morning......Mike painted a chest of drawers, that was in my nursery, in our freezing cold garage as I sat with my feet up providing moral support and freezing along with him! Once Mom and Dad arrived we made a plan for the day. Mom and Mike headed out with several lists in hand ready to tackle Baby's R Us, Hobby Lobby, and several other stores. After several phone calls back to me at home with various questions, they arrived back home with a car full of stuff in only 2.5 hours, I was shocked. Mike walked right in the door just in time to see the last minute of the Memphis Tigers basketball game! I think he planned that but he promises he didn't.
The rest of the evening consisted of a delicious dinner cooked up by Chef Mike for Mom, Dad, Amy, Taylor, and I and then hard work to put together the bassinet, crib, bedding, washing numerous loads of laundry, etc. I begged to go upstairs just 1 time to see the nursery after they finished but I had to be satisfied with them taking pictures for me to look at, as they all did a good job of enforcing the bedrest rules!
Mom and Dad hit the road this morning after Mike filled us all up with delicious two-grain spiced pancakes and bacon. Soon after they left he offered to carry me up the stairs to see the nursery! It was truly the treat and highlight of my day! It was a hilarious sight to see I'm sure but thankfully no one was here with us to see it. I just sat in the rocking chair, of Mike's grandmother's, in Abbie Rose's nursery and reveled in the moment, just beside myself with excitement. Mike got the curtain up in the nursery while I watched and rested.

33 weeks PG

Here's a picture of Abbie and I at 33 weeks. I don't have one yet of us at 34 since all the drama last Friday night. Today's the last day I can take one of us at 34 so I better put that on my to do list for tonite.

Bedrest Fun

One of my best college friends, Joni, and her little girl, Lilly, came to visit today and help keep me company! We usually do lunch every few weeks when I was working, so today was an extra treat. They came over and we hung out to catch up for a couple hours and Joni treated me to a tasty lunch. It's so hard to sit on the couch and watch others do all the work but she was kind enough to pamper me with a homemade lunch! Our time of hanging out, playing with Lilly and her toys, and lunch was definitely a highlight of my week!

BedRest Countdown

It's been a mostly uneventful pregnancy until Abbie Rose attempted to enter this world 6 weeks too soon last Friday! Her due date is February 27 and I was thinking "she may come a couple weeks early at the most" but little did we know she had other intentions as of a few days ago! After a night in the hospital, lots of medicine( which did anything but work by the way, it only sped up my labor), and lots of prayers we walked out of the hospital Saturday morning with doctors orders for bedrest with bathroom privileges only! We were so relieved the labor miraculously stopped by God's providence and know He deserves all the glory as the doctors were baffled that the medicines that were supposed to stop the labor actually sped it up and then it stopped when they took me off the medicines! Leave it to Abbie to keep us on our toes already! So now we are home and much more prepared than we were Friday for her arrival, in case she tries to pull that one on us again! Mike's been so great about doing EVERYTHING! He's packed Abbie's bag, mine and his bags, and the car so we are ready when it's officially time. I must admit I'm already tired of bedrest and it's only been 5 days but it will all be worth it when we get to hold our sweet baby girl in our arms. We covet your prayers during this time for Abbie's growth, health, and safety until she enters this world and for my sanity on bedrest!

It's About Time!

Well, I bit the bullet and am joining the blogging world after much encouragement from friends about the wonderful world of blogging! The picture above is from October 2008 but it's a great family picture I think as Abigail Rose had just made her debut by ultrasound earlier that day, though we hadn't decided on a name at the time of that picture. Anyways, I'm having to backtrack a bit. So here's to blogging and hopefully I will remain faithful to it!
